January – Das ist nicht nur der Name des ersten Monat des Jahres, dem Anfang von etwas Neuem, sondern auch der Name einer Band.
January stehen seit 2001 gemeinsam auf den Bühnen in und um Frankfurt. Bei den ersten Proben im Keller des damaligen Schlagzeuges, und auch bei den Aufnahmen ihrer ersten EP 4 Tracks, 4 Seasons 2004 waren noch zu dritt. Für ihr erstes Album Rumours im Jahr 2006 holten sich Andi (Gesang, Gitarre), Zoki (Bass, Samples, Shouts) und Moritz (Drums) einen zweiten Andy (Gitarre) ins Boot. Aber nicht nur die Jahreszeiten ändern sich, auch January war 2007 wieder nur noch ein Trio. Ein ganzes Jahr verging, bis January wieder die Zähne zusammenbiss, wieder Songs schrieb, wieder zusammen Musik machte. Diesmal mit Christoph an der – man kann’s kaum anders formulieren – Gefuddel Gitarre.
Zeitsprung – Mitte 2009 – January war im Studio, der Song I Could Butt I Can’t machte genau da weiter, wo die Band 2 Jahre vorher aufgehört hatte.
Kompromissloser, druckvoller, energiegeladener Rock. Treibende Gitarrenwände, klar definierte Beats, und eine Mischung aus fröhlichen Melodien und einer Spur zornigen Shorts. Das alles ist January. Auf der Bühne kommen alle Emotionen, die schon in das Songwriting eingeflossen sind voll und ganz zum Tragen. Prügelnde Drums, treibende Riffs, aber immer mit einem verschmitzen Grinsen auf den Gesichtern von den vier Jungs, die mit ihrem kürzlich gesignten Deal bei Awesome Records auf dem besten Weg sind wieder “back in town” zu sein!

January, the first month of a new year, a new start, and also the name of a band that’s been around quite some time.
January, a Frankfurt – Germany – based band that since their first coming together in the former drummers attic only has one thing in mind: To deliver music that they shape as detailed as a sculptor shapes his figurines to as many people as possible. Sharing their thoughts with their lyrics, emotions with their guitar riffs, and the energy with everyone that is into driving rhythms and thrusting chords.
January have come a long way from their first EP 4 Tracks, 4 Seasons which they released in 2004. Going through some major changes in their lineup they brought out Rumours in 2006. The full length album being one year in the making was the backbone of the many shows that followed all over Germany.
After taking a break to think stuff over, January is back on writing songs since the middle of 2009, preparing to release their next self recorded and produced EP by the end of the year with their new label Awesome Records.

January is the face of straight, solid rock music, that isn’t afraid of taking a glipse over the fence over to (insert presillable)-Metal, or any other genre for that matter.
